The Door Is Open

It's been just over three weeks since this space opened. 17 people are here. Some of you arrived on day one, some of you just walked in. Here's what's happening and where to plug in.

The Open Call is Live#

We're running an open call for participants in a collective intervention timed to May 1. Deadline is April 21. If you haven't seen it yet, check #open-call, it's where we're workshopping the call in real time. Spread it to anyone who should see it. Don't see #open-call? It's because you need to introduce yourself first (see below). Please help promote this open call in the spaces that you're in as well!

What You Can Do Right Now#

Introduce yourself in #arrivals if you haven't yet. This unlocks the planning channels where the actual work is happening — #open-call, #works-in-progress, #publication, and #funding.

Post something in #works-in-progress. A sketch, a half-thought, a link to something you're making or thinking about making. The bar is low on purpose. This is a workshop, not a gallery.

Engage with the weekly internet art posts in #the-art-happens-here. Every Monday I'm posting a work of networked art that feels like a precedent for what we might create together. The latest is UBERMORGEN's Vote-Auction. What resonates? What doesn't? What's missing from the conversation? Feel free to introduce additional works for group conversation.

Jump into #slopulism. This is where we're working out what aesthetic resistance actually means in a moment drowning in slop. Read The Slopist Manifesto, and answer the question posed: "where are the great slopists?"

Weigh in on #constitution. This space is trying to become a democracy. That only works if more than one person is talking about what it should look like.

What's Coming#

The open call closes April 21. Responses and the conversations that happen here will feed into a Metalabel release documenting this process. The May 1 intervention is the first thing we make together.

This space is only as alive as the people in it. The infrastructure is here. The question is what we do with it.
